National dance law for Argentina

This project has been in the works since 2012.  I read about it for the first time this week when I found the video of the Flashmob at the National Congress on April 29, International Dance Day. I’m sorry I missed the event.  A choreographer made this video for dancers who wanted to take part in the flashmob rehearsal.  Thousands of young dancers were there to dance on Callao in front of Congress in support of the national dance law.

The goal of a national dance law is the creation of a national dance institute and board of directors under federal law protection supporting professional dancers and related workers.  The initiators already have support from senators and representatives, but there is more work before the law is official.  Dance is the identity of Argentine culture and a national treasure.  Artists are the heritage of the nation’s culture.
