Nelly Omar

September 10, 1911 – December 20, 2013

Nelly Omar

I was sitting in a waiting room when I learned of her death this morning.  I remembered the night I saw her in concert at Club del Vino.  Another tango legend is gone, but her recordings endure.

Tandas don’t usually begin at milongas with applause, but there was an exception tonight in Plaza Bohemia.  Grabriela Laddaga played Rosas de otoño, a vals which Nelly recorded with Francisco Canaro
