Live from Buenos Aires

Today at 4:00 p.m. Argentina time, you can go to a Buenos Aires milonga without leaving home.  The live transmission from Palacio Barolo includes an exhibition by El Chino Perico.

I didn’t have this flier in advance to know that the live broadcast on the internet included a charge per view.  Canal 5411 — the country code for Argentina is 54, and the city code for Buenos Aires is 11) is a new channel dedicated to tango.  Attendance at the concert was free.  There were only a few couples dancing.

A new milonga opened in July at Pasaje Barolo — El Faro de Buenos Aires.  The building is the lighthouse of Buenos Aires, and the same building exists in Montevideo, Uruguay.

It was reinaugurated in September with a new name — Corretango.

El Chino Perico danced for the concert audience.
