Día del Milonguero

It was the idea of Oscar Hector Malagrino to inaugurate this special day in 1993.  Carlos Alberto Estévez, better known as Petróleo, was born September 29, 1910.

“One can learn to dance, but there is a lot of work to be done and also one has to feel the music. Tango does not come all of a sudden.”

We owe a debt of gratitude to all the milongueros who continue dancing in the Buenos Aires milongas.  People dance tango in many countries today.  The tango as a social dance has a future with milongueros-in-training:  Ronan of Grenoble, France, Saulius of Vilnius, Lithuania, and Jun of Seoul, Korea.
