Raúl Gauto

July 16, 1936 —

If you hear bien papá! at the end of a tanda of Pugliese in Lo de Celia, it’s Raúl.  One day I asked Lillian the story behind this.  I’ve heard him shout out with enthusiasm for more than ten years in the milongas.  She told me that as teenagers Raúl and a group of friends would go to hear Osvaldo Pugliese’s orchestra.  They stood in front of the stage shouting bien papá!  because they were big fans of his music.  Raúl has continued the tradition.  You can see what I mean at the end of this video.
