Eleven years at Lo de Celia Tango Club

The recent issue No. 207 of B.A. Tango magazine included an article about Celia Blanco and her milonga.  What sets hers apart from all others is that she has a Class “C” dance hall license with rigid standards.  Celia is the only milonga organizer in Buenos Aires to have her own venue seven days a week.  It’s at the corner of Humberto Primo and Entre Rios where she hosts four milongas each week on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I’ve had my reserved table in the corner by the bar for more than three years.  The staff is one big happy family, so they make all feel at home.  That’s why we call Lo de Celia Tango Club our second home.

The photo was taken at the end of the cortina.  None of these men leave their seats until the tanda begins, and a woman has accepted the invitation to dance.
