Dina Vivanco

May 19, 1926 —

Dina told me about the days when mothers accompanied their daughters to dances.  A boy had to approach the table to invite a girl to dance.  If she didn’t want to accept his invitation, others saw the rejection.  That’s why the invitation by movement of the head (cabeceo) came into use in the early 1940s, according to Dina.

Dina and Roberto met dancing at Centro Region Leonesa more than 40 years ago and have remained friends.
