Entrada gratis

When milongas in Buenos Aires are charging an average of twenty pesos for admission, it’s rare to enter one without paying.  That’s happens to be the case on Saturday.  Lo de Celia Tango Club recently changed to an earlier hour–6:00pm with no entrada during the first hour.  Dance for eight hours until closing at 2:00am and pay only for food and drink.

Salon Canning has free admission from 10:00pm – 11:00pm on Saturday for singles to attract more dancers on the traditional couples night.  I joined a friend recently, and the salon was full by the time the milonga began at 11pm.  The only drawback is the dim red lighting which makes the cabeceo a real challenge.  Those who enjoy dancing in the dark can do so until 4:30am.
