Friday, November 13: Homenaje for Ismael “El Turco” Heljalil at Lucy & Dany’s milonga in Maipu 444. Opens at 18 hs. If God danced tango, he would surely dance like Ismael! Entrada 15 pesos.
Saturday, November 14: Annual Museum Night in Buenos Aires with hundreds of places open to the public. I recommend visiting Congress and hearing the concert at 21, 30hs. by the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Congress. They also will perform on Thursday, Nov 19 at 19 hs. in Congress. It is difficult to choose one event to attend on the program.
Saturday, November 14: Milonga de Imperial at Club Español, Bernardo Irygogen 172 at 22,30 hs. Entrada 20 pesos. Exhibition by sister and brother Ayelan and Federico. Reservations: 4334-3043 There hasn’t been a regular milonga held at the Club for several years, but they are hosting a special one on Saturday night.
Wednesday, November 25: Talk (in Castellano) by Dr. Emilio Santabaya. 18 a 19,30 hs. Free. www.emiliosantabaya.com.ar Club Espanol, Bernardo Irygoyen 172. Take stairs to lower level. This 159-year old club is magnificent.
Saturday, November 28: Orquesta Escuela del Tango Emilio Balcarce under the direction of Nestor Marconi present a free concert at the Biblioteca Nacional, Aguero and Las Heras, Borges Auditorium, Recoleta. 17hs.
Sunday, November 29: Orquesta Beba Pugliese and Ensemble Carla Pugliese in concert. Casa de Cultura, Salon Dorado, Avenida de Mayo 575. 18 hs. Free.
November premiere of Milena Plebs’ new show “Tramatango” in Teatro Avenida, Corrientes 1659. Wednesday shows are $25 & $10 pesos. Thursday through Saturday at 21, 30 hs; Sundays at 20,30 hs. Main floor $40, $30. Box office open during afternoon to buy tickets.
